It can reach Alba Fucens along highway A24-A25 towards Pescara , if you
go to Rome or L'Aquila, if you come from Pescara instead just take the
A25 towards Rome.
The outputs at toll of both paths will take place at Avezzano or
Magliano dei Marsi .
Once you leave the highway, it will be easy to frame the isolated hill
of Alba in the northwest corner of the plain of Fucino. In order to
access to the country contrary to what happened in the past, where the
Tiburtina Valeria joined Alba Fucens in Rome directly up the hill from
the West, today we must move to the North-Eastern side of the hill,
along the "Strada Panoramica" to the junction near the resort Arci ,

TERRITORY
The Hill of Alba Fucens is located on the edge of the
riverbed of the North-West Fucino, large and fertile plateau in the
heart of Abruzzo enclosed between the highest peaks of the Central
Apennines (M.Velino m. 2486; Gran Sasso m. 2914; Maiella m. 2795).
This significant rises very gently and 700 meters from the plateau of
the Fucino reaches 1022 meters in the highest point, where today we can
see the ruins of the village of Alba and medieval castle of the Orsini.
Apart from this summit the hill he has two more: the hill to the south
of S. Peter (mt. 1000), to the east the Pettorino (mt. 995). The three
hills form a natural barrier defense in place in the middle of the
plateau, the "Plan of Civita", a valley width of about m.
700. The topography and the location of Alba makes a
strategic place from a military point of view and control the
surrounding area so much foster the presence of human civilizations
that populated and still populate the hill . This persistence of life
of course, is due also to rare beauty of the place :
dominated to the north by the mountain range of the Velino,
from the Alba hill you can see the plans Palentini, the river
Imele-Salto, the entrance of the Roveto Valley , the step of Fonte Capo
la Maina leading in the plain of the Rocche and Forca Caruso . If ,
with a little fantasy, we were to imagine the slopes to the
south washed by a lake , what was
Fucino , which made the milder climate and the hill covered
with a rich flora Mediterranean (mentioned in ancient sources, and now
almost disappearance) we can account for why the Romans
utilizzassero this area also as a resort. Another element that makes
suggestive the albense relief is given by its geographical
location than the Italian peninsula. Situated, in fact, at
halfway between the Tyrrhenian and the Adriatic sea, Alba Fucens can be
reached in about an hour's drive from L'Aquila, Pescara, Chieti, Teramo
and the capital itself . This location made it an important node in the
past communications and traffic, being
placed in the middle of intersections important roads that connected
with the Abruzzo Lazio and Molise , Marche and Campania. The relatively
short distance from Rome and from major urban centers of the region
caused him to come and enjoy of obvious advantages in terms of social
and economic development. Today, all these qualities have been
bequeathed to the nearby Avezzano, thriving virtual city, capital and
center of gravity economic and administrative center of the Marsica,
located on the slopes to the south of the
hill. However Fucens Alba, now
pleasant and quiet village, has preserved the beauty and harmony that
will be added to the charm of the mystery of an area to be discovered
